A pedra contém em si, todo o percurso do pensamento plástico. É a partir dela, sobre ela e para ela que esta obra se dá. Utilizando-a em estado bruto nesta construção visual, a pedra, e consequentemente a paisagem, são dois dos grandes temas em estudo. Ao desterrar estas rochas, é criada uma imagem-paisagem, um enquadramento que as separa da totalidade da Natureza. No entanto, é através desse meio fragmentado - desse exílio da Natureza - que essa mesma Natureza se impõe e comunica.
Retiradas da sua origem, estas rochas descansam em solidão, mutuamente amparadas pela sua própria inevitável e impotente materialidade. Conceitos como fragilidade, origem, começo, e, consequentemente, morte, são postos a descoberto nesta obra que coloca em confronto visual direto o Mármore de Estremoz e o Granito Africano. O primeiro, anseia o seu regresso à origem com fluidez, ternura e suavidade. Já o segundo, com a sua superfície naturalmente agreste, serve como repouso, amparo, ou até mesmo jazigo do primeiro.
The stone contains entirely within itself the course of my artistic thought. It is from, about and for her that this work takes place. Using it in its raw state in this visual assemblage, the stone, and consequently the landscape, are two of the concepts approached. By excavating these rocks, an image-landscape is created, a frame that separates the entirety of Nature. However, it is through this fragment - this exile from Nature - that this same Nature imposes itself and communicates.
Removed from their origin, these rocks rest in solitude, mutually supported by their own significant and impotent materiality. Concepts such as fragility, origin, beginning, and, consequently, death, are exposed in this work that places Estremoz Marble and African Granite in direct visual confrontation. The first yearns to return to its origins with fluidity, tenderness and softness. The second, with its naturally rough surface, serves as security, protection, or even a burial site for the first.
